Breathe Arts Health Research

Breathe Arts Health Research (BAHR) commissioned well read to provide a media relations campaign to promote the impact of its innovative Breathe Magic clinical intervention. The initiative integrates magic into an intensive programme of therapy to help improve the mobility and independence of children with hemiplegia (a stiffness, or loss of function affecting one side of the body).

The publicity focussed on the magic therapy camps which took place in London and highlighted funding from Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group. The objective was to raise general awareness of the Breathe Magic initiative among health professionals and health service commissioners. well read developed press materials and a bank of case studies for distribution to the media. Editorial support was provided to meet requests for commissioned articles. A media ‘opportunity’ was held at the Magic Circle and invitations sent out to broadcast and London media. The campaign resulted in coverage of the Breathe Magic camp on ITV London Tonight, in the London press, and a number of specialist titles read by professionals working with children and people with disabilities. Coverage was also secured in the Guardian Healthcare Network, a key information portal for healthcare managers; Onmedica, a leading online publication for health professionals; and Arts Professional, the key title for the arts community.

Yvonne Farquharson, Director, Breathe Arts Health research, said: “I hired well read to lead a press campaign for our Breathe Magic initiative. Kate has expert knowledge of the healthcare sector and consequently managed to secure us articles in high profile healthcare publications. In addition to this Kate got us coverage on ITV London News and an article in The Guardian. Kate also secured articles within arts publications, ensuring that our profile was raised within the arts. “Thanks to all of Kate’s hard work and dedication we have been approached by potential collaborators and funders due to our profile being raised significantly. “Kate was a pleasure to work with and she went above and beyond at every level. I would highly recommend Kate.”
